Cars Are Rarely Used Because Of WFH, This Is What Will Happen

by carscusok September 3, 2020
by carscusok

The government urges us to stay at home and work and also study at home, this is done so that people can avoid and the spread of the covid-19 virus stops. Of course, because people now have activities at home and Work From Home (WFH), it can make cars more idle or parked because they are rarely used.

This can make our car damaged due to parking or humping for too long, and will make us a lot of repair expenses just because the car was damaged due to parking too long.

The first is, the battery drop even dies. The battery is useful for supplying voltage currents to all car electrical systems, the battery can actually decrease in performance if the car is rarely used, and can even die due to not being used for too long.

Because cars that are rarely used still need electricity for some components. On the other hand, the battery is not optimally charged because the car is rarely used. Over time the battery power will run out and end up dropping. If that happens, the car will not be able to be started.

Maintaining the battery performance in cars that are rarely used can be checked by checking the water level of the battery so that the voltage can last longer. But if the car really won’t be turned on for a long time, it’s best if the battery connector is removed so that the battery won’t run out of power.

Second , car tires will be flat and can be damaged. A car that is rarely used or has remained motionless for a long time will put constant pressure on the tires of the car. As a result, the wind pressure on the tires can be reduced.

When the wind pressure decreases, the tires will be flat. If this condition is allowed to continue, it can damage the tire, especially the part of the tire that is bent. So to maintain optimal condition of car tires, make sure the wind pressure is always in accordance with the recommendations. In fact, if possible, you can exert a little pressure if the vehicle is not planning to be used for a long time.

Third , the oil will thicken and even settle. Even though the engine is not turned on, it does not mean that the oil condition will be okay. An engine that is not moving actually makes the oil unable to circulate, lubricating the components in a vehicle engine. Ignoring how to care for a car that is rarely used can make the oil thicken.

The trick, occasionally check the condition of the oil through the available dipstick. If the oil starts to thicken like jelly and the color also changes, you should immediately change the oil according to the vehicle’s specifications.

Fourth , the car wiper will harden and dry. Yes, of course little things like these wipers go unnoticed by us. If the car is parked outside or in a hot room, of course, the windshield will become hot. This will damage the wiper rubber that sticks to the hot glass, so it will be better if the wiper rubber is removed so that it is not easily damaged or brittle.

Some of the things above are most likely what will happen if the car is too long to hang around or park, then we will give a few tips for caring for our car during Work From Home or Home.

  1. Preheat the Machine Every Day

To maintain optimal engine condition, cars that are rarely used occasionally must still be started. Ideally, every day the engine is turned on or heated. It doesn’t take long, a maximum of 5 minutes is enough.

This is done so that the oil can circulate and lubricate the components in it. In addition, when the engine is running, many external components also move, such as gas stations, sensors, and others. That way the condition will be maintained.

  1. Wash the Car Once a Week

The last way is to keep the car clean. Rarely used it can still make the car filled with dust. There is nothing wrong with washing the car, especially if the vehicle will be left idle for a long time. Including the interior, rubbish that should be cleaned so as not to become a nest of insects or even rats that can harm the cables in the car system.

After the car wash is done, to keep the vehicle clean and to maintain the quality of the paint, there’s nothing wrong with covering the car with a cover. Especially when the car will not be used for a long time. Also make sure to use a car cover material that doesn’t damage the paint, let alone fade.

Those are some of the things that will happen and tips if our car is squeezed in or too long to park, hopefully it will be useful for you. Don’t forget to leave other opinions in the comments column.
