Of course, combining elements of stance and performance modification is not an easy thing. It takes a mature concept and calculation during the planning process until modification. After considering various things, Lukman made the first changes to his car, namely immersing the body kit from Aimgain.
The process of selecting the body kit , said Lukman, was also not an easy one. Because, he has the thought, that the body ki t for his favorite car must be easy on the eyes, not excessive, and most importantly, should not have a lot of bolt force on the fenders .
“Actually, from the start, I used the Toyota 86, and many have offered body kits for this car, from Rocket Bunny, Artisan Spirit, Liberty Walk, to Aimgain. Only at that time nothing was right for me. Until finally in mid-2017, the Aimgain and Stancenation launched Aimgain X Stancenation GT Type 2 for the Toyota 86 facelift , and when I saw the picture, okay I immediately said I wanted this body kit , “Lukman explained.
Before installing the Aimgain X Stancenation GT Type 2 body kit , Lukman also had to make a facelift so that the body kit could match the new facelift body from Toyota 86. Various exterior needs for a facelift , he ordered OEM from Toyota directly, from bumpers to lights. light.
Rely on Air Cup To Make The Car Flat
After carrying out the modification process on the body kit , Lukman took the next steps, namely making various changes to the legs, to make the car lower but still safe and comfortable when used daily, especially at high speeds.
“At that time, the point was my reference, I wanted to apply this car to keep it wide body , short, but comfortable for ‘inconsistent’ use. Because of coincidence, I want this car to be comfortable even when speeding on tolls or even on circuits, “explained Lukman.
For that reason, Lukman finally did not choose to use air suspension in his car. Because, if you use an air suspension, said Lukman, it will make the air suspension vulnerable to damage quickly when used at high speeds or extreme maneuvers.
“So when I built this car, at that time I was already thinking how do I do it, I don’t want to use airsus. Finally, one day I was offered a suspension technology called the Air Cup, so the first car in Indonesia to use the Air Cup was my car, “said Lukman.
Unlike Air Sus which can be positioned at 3 levels, namely standard, lowest, and highest, this Air Cup can only be 2 positions, namely the standard or the lowest and the highest. In terms of its low level, the Air Cup certainly cannot be as low as the Air Suspension .
The technology used in the Air Cup, Lukman said, is also much better in terms of durability for daily use. Because, Air Cup does not rely on air balloons like on Air Suspension .
“The good thing about the Air Cup is that we can adjust the dumper and rebound from the suspension. Then if you are still not satisfied with the suspension, we can change the spring rate . So for those who are still a hobby for performance, this Air Cup is perfect, because we can explore as widely as possible what we want or need, “said Lukman.
To find the right and suitable suspension formulation is also not an easy thing. It takes research and testing many times to finally find the right composition.
Maximizing Built-in Machine Internals
After the suspension was done, Lukman faced the next modification challenge, namely improving the performance of his car by minimizing the use of aftermarket components and parts. Changes that he made in the pacemaker sector, only immersed the turbo kit from AVO.
“I really don’t change the piston and other internals, everything is still built in since 2012. So really, I just put in the turbo kit , the gearbox is still standard, the ECU is only on reflash . Because at that time I was curious about the limit for a car in such condition to what extent can it be, “said Lukman.
Even though it only relies on the internal engine default, the performance results of this car cannot be underestimated. Lukman, is considered successful in maximizing the tuning of the Toyota 86 so that he can get 325 horsepower.
With his success in combining stance and performance modifications on his favorite Toyota 86, Lukman said he was very satisfied. Because, according to him, it is not an easy thing to combine stance modification and wild performance for daily use and has very good durability .
