Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is one of the legendary sedans that is quite successful to date. Its slick performance in various prestigious racing events, especially rallies that started from the Evolution I to Evolution X generations, makes this car an idol for petrolheads .
Not only in racing, the existence of this car is also increasing thanks to its appearance in various top films, including 2 Fast 2 Furious. Yes, in the film starring Paul Walker as the main character Brian O’Connor, the yellow Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII appears to be the main star with other Mitsubishi sedans, namely the Eclipse Spyder.
The appearance of Lancer Evolution VII in the film seems to have inspired several people to have it, including Rian Risky. The man from Surabaya admitted that he first fell in love with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution when watching the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious.
“The first time I really liked and wanted to have it because I watched 2 Fast 2 Furious, when Brian used Evo 7. So from there, I wanted to have an Evo,” explained Rian to Intersport.
Starting from his admiration, Rian finally succeeded in fulfilling his wish in 2011. However, it wasn’t the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII that he brought home, but the Evolution IX MR.
“The Evo IX MR is quite special. Besides being rarer , the specifications are also superior to the Evo IX which is GSR. Because of these advantages, I finally chose the Evo IX MR, “said Rian.
Changes to the totality of the pacemaker
After successfully owning it, the red and black Lancer Evolution IX MR was immediately modified according to his wishes. Carrying the concept of a street car that is fast and comfortable for daily use, the engine sector is the one that he has improved the most.
The Lancer Evolution IX MR’s 4G-63T engine was modified by adding various aftermarket components . The goal, of course, is to increase the power and torque.
In the engine innards section, Rian relies on various components such as the Conrod turbo, crankshaft, piston kit from the Manley brand. Meanwhile, the Camshaft uses the Kelford brand and the Camgear with the Tomei brand.

Use of a dogbox and triple clutch transmission system
The engine is further mated to a dogbox transmission system from Samsonas coupled with a triple clutch from ATS which makes the gearshift of this car even more amazing.
The cooling system has also been upgraded to support engine specifications that are no longer standard. In this cooling system, Rian embeds a new radiator from Koyorad, a radiator fan from SPAL, and an intercooler from HKS Type S.
Questioning the engine management system of this car, was entrusted by Rian to the stand alone ECU from the Haltech PS1000. As a result, this car’s power has increased to 504.5 hp and 633 Nm of torque.
“The engine sector is the main thing and I have upgraded the most ,” said Rian. In order to support the ferocious engine’s performance and provide far better control, Rian immersed the coilover suspension of the HKS Hypermax III. Then the braking system relies on the Brembo brake pad .
Lots of carbon touches on the outside
Unlike the technical matters that have received many changes, the exterior and interior sectors of this car have not received much improvement. In accordance with the concept, namely a street car that is comfortable for daily use, the only changes made are to make this car look more attractive and of course grim.
On the exterior, Rian applies a lot of body panels made of carbon, such as on the hood, trunk door, lips spoiler, rear back wing and rearview mirror. The Volk Rays alloy wheels with the TE37 Super Lap type measuring 18 inches with a width of 9.5 are also an attractive complement to this car.
“In addition to the appearance, the large number of uses of carbon in the body is of course also so that the car’s weight is lighter,” explained the man who likes Japanese Cars 90’s cars .
Keep relying on the Mitsubishi OEM interior
While on the interior, Rian tends to retain OEM parts or components from the Evo IX, such as the racing seats from Recaro, the steering wheel from MOMO, and the sunroof .
The additions made include only the shift knob from HKS , intelligent infometer touch from Greedy for water temperature, oil temperature, airflow, throotle, boost, speed, Defi brand tachometer for oil pressure, oil temperature and exhaust temperature , and HKS Type turbo timer . 1.
With his current condition, Rian claims to be very satisfied with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR. The car still likes to use it when driving in the city of Surabaya. This car has also won several contest achievements in 2017 and 2018 for the Force Induction category .
In the future, Rian admits that he still wants to care for and enjoy his favorite car. He also did not deny that the various offers for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR were indeed a lot he got.
