Carscusok’s version of the iconic roadster line

by carscusok December 22, 2020
by carscusok

Having a sporty yet beautiful appearance and being able to fully enjoy the air is one of the benefits of using a car with a roadster model.
this model always has its own unique and charisma that makes it the center of attention.

The following is a summary of the Carscusok version of the 5 iconic roadster cars from time to time. Curious? Check this out!

1965 Ford Mustang Convertible

At the beginning of its appearance in 1964, Ford took the automotive world by storm with the Ford Mustang product which became their mainstay. The Ford Mustang has managed to become one of the most iconic cars in America and even around the world.

The success of the Ford Mustang is what inspired Ford to provide additional options for  automotive enthusiasts  by introducing the Mustang Convertible model   1 year after its debut. A car with small dimensions at its time but powerful, suddenly became a new idol in the automotive world.

The success of the Ford Mustang as one of America’s most iconic cars is what underlies Intersport to add it to the list of   iconic roadsters of all time.

1954 BMW 507 Convertible

Although classified as BMW’s least successful car in terms of sales, the BMW 507 is one of the best-designed BMW cars. Starting in 1954, a general importer specializing in luxury cars from New York, America, Max Hoffman saw a gap in the sports car sales market   which at that time was dominated by  economical sports cars  produced by MG and Triumph, as well as its rival country Mercedes Benz. 300SL which has an exorbitant price.

Based on these reasons, Max Hoffman convinced BMW to fill the gap. From there BMW agreed to create its roadster sports car  . Albert Von Goertz was appointed to be the  designer  of this entire  project  . A project  that uses a hand built system  , where each unit is unique, because the roof is different from one another.

However, the miscalculation of production costs, which had been projected to be sold to the public at a price of around $ 5000, turned out to   be double the over  budget . So that this car ends up being a car that is very rare on the market. Only 252 units of the BMW 507 were successfully sold during the production period. Two units of which belong to the king of  Rockstar , Elvis Presley. This makes this car a very rare car and has a price of up to millions of dollars at classic car auctions in several countries.

Due to the uniqueness of each unit, the scarcity of cars on the market, and the exorbitant prices, this car is one of the  most expensive convertible cars  in the world.

Jaguar E-Type Series 1 1961-1967

The Jaguar E-Type is a revolutionary car because it breaks the old ways of creating a car. This car is also the basis for the use of the  monocoque chassis   which is now widely used by cars.

Inspired by the way fighter planes are made, Jaguar has succeeded in developing this car to become one of the best cars to come out of their production line. This car is a successor to its already reputable predecessor, the Jaguar D-Type. The car that managed to conquer the Le-Mans event for three consecutive years in 1955-1957.

At the beginning of its appearance, the Jaguar E-Type Series 1 was equipped with an engine with an inline 6-cylinder 3,781 cc configuration, had 265 horsepower and a maximum torque of 346 Nm which was classified as having great power at that time. But it didn’t stop there, in 1964 Jaguar again upgraded the  E-Type Series 1 by providing a larger-dimensional engine to 4,235 cc which could devour a speed of 0-100 km / h in just 7 seconds.

AC Shelby Cobra Mk 2 1963-1965

Moving on to the next car, it is a creation by a British manufacturer that is given a magical touch from the farmer from Kentucky, Carrol Shelby. AC Cobra itself is the result of a brilliant collaboration between AC, a British car manufacturer and  Carrol Shelby’s tuning workshop  , Shelby American, LTD.

At first Shelby wanted Aston Martin as the  base  model for the car he created. However, when he contacted Aston Martin, Shelby was directly rejected by one of the biggest British car manufacturers. The refusal did not stop Shelby from approaching British car manufacturers.

It wasn’t long before Shelby tried to contact an AC car manufacturer who happened to be missing a  supplier  for the engine on the car they were creating, the AC Bristol Roadster. This is good news for Shelby because Shelby feels she can fit an American V8 engine into the AC Bristol car.

Shelby got her V8 engine needs from Ford, who happened to be developing a new V8 at that time. Sure enough, the combination of   a lightweight British body and chassis combined with an American V8 fierce engine, results in a harmonious appearance,  handling  and performance. This car is named the Shelby Cobra.

Equipped with a V8 engine with a capacity of 4,800 cc, this car has a power of 410 Bhp and maximum torque of 480 Nm with a 4 speed manual transmission. The Shelby Cobra is also one of the  most iconic heritage  racing stripe carriers of  high-performance American cars.

Mazda MX-5

It cannot be denied that the Mazda MX-5 is a car with small dimensions that has a reputation as a ‘ fun to drive’ car .

The Mazda Miata was developed in 1981. At that time, Mazda had a new partnership between the Mazda team in Tokyo and the Mazda team in North America. This collaboration is called the  Offline 55 Project .

Based on the Offline 55 Project  collaboration  , Mazda was inspired to revive the glory   of the British roadster that will be produced by Japanese manufacturers and sold in America. Mazda appointed Tom Matano as the designer for this  project  , and took inspiration from  the  British roadster , the Lotus Elan.

Mazda took the philosophy of one of Jinba  Ittai’s martial arts   which means a combination of horse and rider when developing this British  roadster  from Japan. With this philosophy, Mazda concluded that this   latest car project must have small dimensions, be comfortable to drive, and distribute the weight evenly on the front and rear of the car.

As a result, Mazda succeeded in introducing the Mazda MX-5 at the  Chicago Auto Show  in 1989 which made potential customers love it. This has resulted in every existing   Mazda dealer getting booming orders from consumers.

Until now,  automotive enthusiasts  still choose this car as a daily car to a  modification project car  , due to the relatively economical prices and machines from Japanese manufacturers which are known to be stubborn and  reliable .

That’s the roadster of choice from carscusok. If you have another or additional version. Let’s write in the comments column
